MODERATION
Beverage Wholesalers Inc. is a socially responsible
corporate citizen. We distribute legal products that are enjoyed and consumed
responsibly by the majority of citizens of legal drinking age in our market
area. Our products are socially acceptable and are subject to extensive
government controls. Government regulations define how our products should
be distributed, who can legally use our products, and licenses businesses
(after extensive background checks) to sell our products to legal drinking
age consumers.
We are not drug dealers and take exception with individuals
or groups who would imply that we are involved in immoral or illegal activities.
The people employed at Beverage Wholesalers are of sound moral character and
most are heads of families. They are constructive members of society and are
actively involved in community activities and organizations.
As a good corporate citizen in our community we want
our consumers to have fun when enjoying our products, but we emphasize
responsible use and consumption in moderation. We do not condone irresponsible
use of our products and are vocal in expressing our disapproval of excessive
consumption or use of our products by individuals who do not meet the
legal age requirements.
Like many other ingested products, that may or may
not be alcoholic in nature, our products have an impact on the human body.
The reaction to consumption varies with the physical and chemical make
up of the individual consuming these products. Humans have enjoyed forms
of our products all over the world for the past 4,000 years. Over that
period of time society has realized that beer is a beverage of choice
by a majority of responsible members of our society. Medical studies consistently
demonstrate that moderate beer consumption can be part of a healthy lifestyle.
As an industry we are actively involved in educating
and training individuals to use our products responsibly and expend significant
resources yearly to make this happen. Reducing the problems associated
with drunk driving is a high priority among beer wholesalers. The fact
is, drunk driving and underage purchase and consumption are on the decline
thanks to all those involved in educating the public. Over the past seventeen
years, our nation has made remarkable progress in reducing drunk drinking.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, between
1982 and 1999, drunk driving fatalities have decreased.
We believe attempts to strengthen drunk driving laws
should focus on high-BAC drivers and repeat offenders who cause more than
82% of the alcohol-related traffic fatalities. The real problem on roads
is the alcohol abuser.
In summary, the beer industry actively promotes responsible
consumption of our products and is making a difference. Our Company delivers
more than just beer. We give back to our local communities in jobs provided,
taxes paid and charities supported.
